I've heard there are some alternative health ways to get off opioids, like using kratom, medical marijuana, or CBD. I believe these products can be used to overcome an addiction. If he still needs pain relief, I believe these products can be used instead of opioids to serve that purpose as well. Maybe he could find a health practitioner who knows about this.
